Historic Debut for ELC in German ITF Tournaments
The German Tennis Federation (DTB) and PlayReplay have officially signed a partnership agreement to promote Electronic Line-Calling (ELC) throughout German tennis. This landmark deal follows the successful piloting of PlayReplay's technology at ITF junior and professional tournaments in Bavaria, marking the first time ELC has been used in German ITF events. The reception from players and officials has been described as "exceptional."
Radically Improving the Tournament Experience
Christoph Poehlmann, Tournament Director in Oberhaching, praised the system's impact and ease of use: “PlayReplay removes all reasons for arguments. It is a quick installation and remarkably easy for officiating to adopt.” DTB centrally echoed this enthusiasm. “We believe it could radically improve the experience for players,” said Christian Kruse, Tournament Oversight at DTB, highlighting the solution's ability to handle a high volume of tournaments.
Boosting Player Development at National Centers
Beyond tournament officiating, the DTB is supporting fixed installations of PlayReplay technology at top National Centers. Michael Kohlmann, National Head Coach and Davis Cup Captain, emphasized its value for training: “Some of our coaches have already tested the technology and we were quickly convinced this is the future of tennis. I want all our coaches and players to have access to PlayReplay for player development purposes.”
A Strategic Partnership for the Future
PlayReplay’s system uses four net-post-mounted cameras to automatically determine line calls and provide valuable match statistics. “We are thrilled to partner with DTB and improve the experience for tennis players in Germany,” said Hans Lundstam, Co-Founder and CEO of PlayReplay. “Germany is one of the leading countries in the world when it comes to participation, and we are proud to be selected as a trusted partner.”
