PlayReplay and UPA Collaborate for Pickleball

The United Pickleball Association (UPA) has signed a partnership with PlayReplay to implement its electronic line-calling (ELC) technology on the PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball. This strategic collaboration is a response to the need for greater match integrity as the sport's professional circuit evolves, particularly with the transition to a prize money-based model.

Advancing Fairness and Technology

The UPA's CEO, Connor Pardoe, highlighted the challenge of accurate line-calling in pickleball, where players are often positioned close to the net. PlayReplay's system, which features four AI-powered cameras per court, aims to solve this by providing a highly accurate solution. This will either serve as a live line-calling system or an uber-precise challenge system, depending on the tournament's needs.

A Partner for Growth and Development

Beyond officiating, the partnership will also leverage PlayReplay's ability to collect match analytics, such as ball spin rate and other valuable data. This will create opportunities for players and coaches to better understand the game, opponents' strategies, and their own performance. The UPA will also act as an official distributor of PlayReplay's technology, helping to extend the system's reach to clubs and facilities nationwide.
